The Los Angeles Rams, as we know them today, have one of the most interesting stories of any of the franchises currently in the NFL. They’ve always been the Rams, but throughout their history have been located in three completely different parts of the United States. Today, the Los Angeles Rams compete in the NFC West division in the National Football League, along with their longtime rivals in the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.
Here are Five Interesting Facts About the Los Angeles Rams:

- The Rams have appeared in four Super Bowls, but have only won the Lombardi Trophy once. (source) The Los Angeles Rams made their first Super Bowl following the 1979 NFL season, but they would fall 31-19 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It wouldn’t be for another 20 years before the Rams would return to the NFL’s biggest game of the year. The Rams, who were now playing in St. Louis at this point, had a high-powered offense still remembered today as “the greatest show on turf,” led by quarterback Kurt Warner, along with wide receivers Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt.

- Following that 2000 NFL season, the Rams defeated the Tennessee Titans to claim their first Super Bowl Title. The St. Louis Rams would return to the Super Bowl the following season, but lose to the New England Patriots. Many years later, following the 2018 season, the Rams (now back in Los Angeles) would be defeated again by Tom Brady and the Patriots.

- The Rams were originally located in Cleveland, Ohio. (source) Today, we know Cleveland as being NFL home to the Browns, but it was in 1936 that the Cleveland Rams came into existence. During their time in Cleveland, the Rams posted an overall record of 39 wins, 52 losses and 2 draws. The Rams are one franchise in the National Football League that is no stranger to relocating. The team left Cleveland for Los Angeles in 1946, would leave Los Angeles for St. Louis in 1996, and would return back home to Los Angeles for the 2016 NFL season.

- In 1984, Rams running back Eric Dickerson set the NFL’s single-single rushing record with 2,105 yards. (source) Dickerson’s record from the 1984 season still stands today. In 2012, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson came close, coming just nine yards short of breaking the record. Dickerson is also one of only eight players in NFL history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a single season, a group that also includes Adrian Peterson (2,097), Jamal Lewis (2,066), Barry Sanders (2,053), Derrick Henry (2,027), Terrell Davis (2,008), Chris Johnson (2,006) and O.J. Simpson (2,003).

- Since 1936, the Rams have had 28 different head coaches, but none have won more games than Chuck Knox. (source) Chuck Knox is the winningest coach in the history of the franchise, and actually had two different coaching stints with the Rams. From 1973-1977, Knox led the Rams to a 54-15 record, and then would return from 1992-1994 to go 15-33. Overall, Chuck Knox’s 69 victories as the head coach of the Rams are the most in the franchise’s history. Current head coach of the Rams, Sean McVay, is nearing 50 wins.

- In the NFL Draft, the Rams have had the number one overall selection six times. (source) The Rams have had possession of the top pick on six different occasions, including twice since 2010. Three of these draft selections have been quarterbacks, with Terry Baker in 1963, Sam Bradford in 2010 and Jared Goff in 2016. The other three players were Corbett Davis in 1938, Billy Cannon in 1960, Orlando Pace in 1997. Today, Orlando Pace is regarded as one of the greatest offensive tackles in the history of the sport, having been named to both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
